Troop 363 has operated continuously since 1959, and is a deep rooted tradition in Rancho Cordova. Troop 363 has been helping boys from the community grow into leaders and productive citizens now for over 50 years and the tradition still grows strong. More than 50 Eagles have also walked the path Troop 363 has brought and more are to come as more boys join our troop seeking the ultimate rank.
One of the troop's former scouts include Ken Cooley, whom now visits and helps the troop when needed.
The troop meets Tuesday nights at the American River Grange, located at 2720 Kilgore Road, and can be seen in action doing team-building excercises, scout skills, and various other activities. Other meeting formats include Court of Honors, annual swim-checks, boy scout demonstrations, and seminars on BSA.
One quality of Troop 363 that the troop goes on throughout the California terrain, from hikes around Folsom lake to camping at Roundtop lake. Some activites include snow camping, backpacking, hiking, bicycling, swimming and canoeing, as well as some sports like archery and tomahawk throwing. Troop 363 is also very well known for putting on the archery event at camporees and other scout gatherings, as well as the famed gourmet camp food such as Dump Cake and Darn Good Chili.
The Scout motto is Be Prepared, and that is the very phrase that describes this troop. We have been and always will be ready to help the community in any way necessary. We have helped at such events as the California Air Show, the 4th of July parade, Hagan Park fairs, and have assisted the VFW in Poppy Sales. We also hold annual booths at the Relay for Life in October as well.
