CAMPING

The Outdoor program helps build the scout's character, encourage citizenship, and develop their physical and emotional fitness.  Camping is just one means of meeting these goals.

Our Troop spends at least 27 days and nights of camping March to November, which includes one week of resident camp.  In December we plan a cabin campout, in January we schedule a lock-in and in February we adjust as needed.

Troop 40 provides tents, patrol cooking equipment and utensils.  Scouts are responsible for their own bedding, clothing, and mess kits.

ORDER OF THE ARROW

Order of the Arrow is scoutings' National Honor Society for the purpose of recognizing those scouts who best exemplify the Scout Oath an Law.  It promotes camping, responsible outdoor adventure and environmental stewardship.; develop leaders and crystallize the Scout habit of helpfulness into a life purpose of leadership and cheerful service.

Our lodge is the Nisha-Kittan Lodge # 114.  The Lodge Executive Council meets the third Thursday of Each month at Klucker Hall, 14 Park Drive, Shiloh IL 62269

The Troop is a member of the Pontiac Chapter which meets the first Thursday of each month at Shiloh First United Methodist church.
