About our Pack

Cub Scout Pack 76 is based at Mary of Nazareth School (our BSA chartered organization).  Our Pack consists of 5 Den levels: Tiger (1st grade), Wolf (2nd grade), Bear (3rd Grade), Jr. Webelo (4th Grade), Sr. Webelo (5th Grade).  Our entire Pack meets approximately once per month and each individual den meets at least once per month.

The Cub Scout program offers the opportunity for boys to “do your best” (Cub Scout motto) and realize positive recognition for trying regardless of the outcome.  The program is designed to encourage trying with a “do your best” attitude, removing the fear of failure, and building confidence to try.  As the scouts enter their Webelo years, they begin a shift to the “be prepared” focus, getting them ready for Boys Scouts.

What we do:

The scouts advance through their ranks with help from their leaders and parents.  Advancements are recognized at Pack meetings.  As a parent, you have the opportunity to work with your scout as he completes various activities to realize his advancement.  All your scout needs to do is to try the activities and “do his best” to qualify.

Our Pack meetings are multi-faceted and will involve cub scout participation with focus on the 12 core values of Cub Scouting (Cooperation, responsibility, citizenship, respect, positive attitude, resourcefulness, compassion, faith, health & fitness, perseverance, courage, honesty); and information dissemination. Scouts may be invited to the podium to share something with the audience; perform skits, songs or cheers with their den; play a game or publicly receive recognition for achievements. As with most all pack activities, siblings are welcome to attend.

Some of our Pack activities include: overnight campouts, Pinewood Derby, Blue & Gold Banquet, St, Patrick’s Day Parade, food drive, Rain Gutter Regatta, etc.  Our program is funded through dues and an annual fundraiser (popcorn sales). In instances where the cost of an activity exceeds our ability to fund through the pack, a pay-as-you go approach is undertaken.  However, in past years we have managed to fund our program on dues and the fundraiser alone. In most instances siblings are welcome to participate in Pack activities. Some activities may require additional fees to cover the added cost of sibling participation (usually nominal)

Pack 76 is part of the National Capital Area Council (NCAC) of the Boy Scouts of America.  We are located in the Seneca District. The National Capital area website is: http://www.boyscouts-ncac.org

Annual Dues and Uniform

$100 for first scout, $50 per additional scout from same family (plus $18 for additional Boys Life subscriptions*).  Dues cover most of our program activities, a 12-month Boys Life subscription, BSA insurance.  More than one Boys Life subscription per family is not mandatory or necessary.

Pack 76 uniforms are from the waist up.  This includes hat, shirt, belt, patches and neckerchief.  Uniforms can be purchased at the Scout store in Bethesda. All you need to do is tell the staff at the store that your son is a Cub Scout with Pack 76

In addition to the uniform, you will need to purchase the appropriate handbook for your den level.

Pack 76 - November 2016 Service Project!

Many parents & scouts came out on two separate weekends in November to work on restoring the two fences surrounding the a/c units on either side of the KFC. The fences were in bad shape with missing & broken fence slats and doors. The group worked hard to restore the fences and completed the project at no expense to the school! Way to go Pack 76!
